Mistral Says 209M Timestral Model Ranks First on Three Forecasting Benchmarks

Mistral releases Timestral, a family of time-series foundation models from 5M to 209M parameters. Mistral says its 209M model ranks first on GIFT-Eval, TIME and fev-bench among zero-shot pre-trained entries, beating larger models with two-thirds the parameters. It runs on CPU without a GPU.

• Mistral says its 28M model outperforms Chronos-2, roughly four times larger, on GIFT-Eval.
• On an 8-thread server CPU, the 209M model forecasts one day ahead from three weeks of 15-minute data in 140 ms.
• Mistral says Timestral is available through Forge for fine-tuning on proprietary data.
