Gathin23's cleanyourtv Debloats Android TV Over Wi-Fi and Installs Apple TV-Style Launcher
Summary
Gathin23's cleanyourtv disables bloatware on Android TV and Google TV over Wi-Fi and installs a native home-screen launcher styled after Apple TV. It needs no root and uninstalls nothing, so a restore script reverses each step. The launcher builds to about 250 KB, and the repo ships no prebuilt APKs.
Key Points
- @gathint says Claude Code found the TV on Wi-Fi and disabled 25 Xiaomi packages on his parents' set.
- Fire TV gets only the debloat half, since Fire OS will not hand Home to a third-party launcher.
- The launcher installs as com.gathin.tvhome and needs JDK 17 and Android SDK platform 34 to build.
